Part One: Lifetime Casting Guarantee

If the iron casting ever fails as a result of a manufacturing defect, at any point in the lifetime of the pan, we will replace it free of charge.

1. What this guarantee covers

This guarantee covers defects in the iron casting of your Hornbeam skillet that arise from the manufacturing process. Specifically, it covers:

  • Structural failure of the iron casting under normal domestic or professional cooking conditions
  • Casting defects such as voids, inclusions, or porosity in the iron body that cause the pan to crack, fracture, or fail
  • Any defect in the material or workmanship of the cast iron that renders the pan unfit for its intended purpose

2. What this guarantee does not cover

The following are excluded from this guarantee:

  • Damage caused by thermal shock, including placing a hot pan directly into cold water or pouring cold liquid into a dry pan at high heat
  • Rust, discolouration, or deterioration of the seasoning arising from neglect, including use in a dishwasher, prolonged soaking in water, or improper storage
  • Physical damage caused by dropping the pan or impact
  • Cosmetic variation in seasoning colour, surface texture, or patina that does not affect the structural integrity or cooking performance of the pan
  • Damage arising from use of the pan in a manner inconsistent with our published care instructions
  • Normal wear and development of the seasoning over time

Summary:

Covered Not covered
Casting defects — voids, inclusions, porosity Thermal shock cracking from misuse
Structural cracking or fracture under normal use Rust from dishwasher use or soaking
Manufacturing faults in the iron body Physical damage from dropping
Any failure rendering the pan unfit for purpose Cosmetic seasoning variation
Damage from non-standard use

3. How to make a claim

  • Contact us at hello@hornbeamcookware.com with a description of the fault and photographs of the pan
  • We will assess the claim and respond within 3 working days
  • If the claim is approved, we will arrange for the pan to be collected at our cost, or ask you to return it by tracked post at our expense
  • We will replace the pan with the same model, or — if that model is no longer available — with a pan of equivalent or greater specification
  • We will not replace the pan with a cash refund unless no suitable replacement is available

4. Proof of purchase

To make a claim under this guarantee, you will need to provide proof of original purchase. This may be an order confirmation email or a receipt.

5. Transferability

This guarantee is transferable. If your pan is given as a gift or passed on, the new owner may make a claim under this guarantee provided they can supply the original proof of purchase.

6. International customers

Customers purchasing from outside the United Kingdom should note that their statutory rights are governed by the law of their own jurisdiction, which may differ from English law. This guarantee is offered as an additional benefit above and beyond statutory rights. For customers in the United States and Canada: return shipping may be to our location in Syosset, Long Island. Please contact us at hello@hornbeamcookware.com for more information.

7. Statutory rights

This guarantee is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (UK) or any equivalent legislation applicable in your jurisdiction. UK customers have the right to bring a claim against us for up to six years from the date of purchase (five years in Scotland) in respect of goods that are not of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, or as described.

Part Two: Free Re-Seasoning Service

If the seasoning of your Hornbeam skillet is ever not right — whether from rust, uneven development, or a difficult start — send it back to us in Stockport. We will restore the surface, re-season the pan, and return it to you ready to cook. Once per pan. No questions asked.

8. What the service includes

The free re-seasoning service includes:

  • Removal of any rust, uneven seasoning, or build-up from the cooking surface
  • Full cleaning and preparation of the iron
  • Application of a fresh base seasoning
  • Return of the pan ready for immediate use

9. Eligibility

  • The service is available once per pan, identified by the pan's unique registration number or original order reference
  • There is no time limit on when the service may be claimed; it remains available throughout the lifetime of the pan
  • The service is available to the original purchaser and to any person who has received the pan as a gift, subject to provision of the original proof of purchase
  • The service covers pans that are structurally intact. If the pan has a casting defect, a claim under Part One (Lifetime Casting Guarantee) should be made instead

10. What the service does not cover

  • Pans that have been structurally damaged (cracks, fractures) — these should be assessed under the Lifetime Casting Guarantee
  • Pans that have been welded, drilled, modified, or subjected to non-standard treatment
  • Loss of seasoning that the customer has not attempted to address using the care instructions on our website
Note: we do not require customers to demonstrate that they followed the care guide before claiming this service. The 'once per pan' limit is the sole restriction. However, we reserve the right to decline a claim where there is clear evidence of intentional damage or abuse.

11. How to claim the service

  • Contact Hornbeam Cookware at hello@hornbeamcookware.com with proof of purchase and a brief description of the issue
  • We will confirm eligibility within 3 working days and provide the closest returns address to you.
  • Pack the pan securely and send it to us by tracked post. We recommend using a service with proof of delivery
  • We will complete the restoration and re-seasoning within 20 working days of receiving the pan
  • We will return the pan to your registered UK address at our cost. International customers will be responsible for the return shipping cost; we will provide a quoted cost before proceeding

12. Postage and transit

UK customers:

  • Outbound postage (pan to Hornbeam): the customer's responsibility. We recommend a tracked, insured service
  • Return postage (Hornbeam to customer): paid by Hornbeam Cookware for all UK mainland addresses
  • Hornbeam Cookware accepts responsibility for the condition of the pan from the point of receipt at our Stockport premises

International customers (United States, Canada, and other territories):

  • Outbound postage: the customer's responsibility
  • Return postage: the customer's responsibility. We will provide a quoted cost prior to returning the pan and will not dispatch until payment of return shipping is confirmed

13. Turnaround

We aim to complete all re-seasoning work and dispatch the pan within 20 working days of receipt. During busy periods we will notify you if this timeframe cannot be met. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays.

14. Limitation of liability for the service

Hornbeam Cookware will take all reasonable care of your pan while it is in our possession. In the unlikely event of loss or damage while in our care, our liability is limited to the replacement cost of the pan at the current retail price. We are not liable for any consequential loss arising from the period during which the pan is being serviced.

15. Statutory rights

This service is offered as a voluntary benefit above and beyond any statutory obligation. It does not limit or replace your statutory rights under applicable consumer law.
